Why do you need a bolster cushion?

The elongated, rectangular shape of a bolster cushion provides optimal stability, ideal for opening postures or leg raises. It comfortably supports the back, lower back, hips, or knees, and allows for freer breathing. Whether sitting or lying down, it helps release deep tension and provides more restorative relaxation.

Handmade from GOTS-certified organic cotton, it is naturally dyed without any chemicals, using local plants. All our bolsters are unique pieces, designed with a responsible, ethical approach that respects both your body and the planet.

MATERIALS USED

Local Organic Cotton
Grown in Tamil Nadu, our GOTS certified organic cotton is selected for its softness and durability. Thanks to the expertise of our artisans and traditional weaving, it naturally becomes non-slip, while respecting the environment and helping local communities.

Ayurvedic Plant Dyes
More than twenty medicinal plants - roots, leaves, bark, turmeric, manjishta, indigo... - are used to create each of our colors thanks to the virtues of Nature. Each of these colors possesses ancient Ayurvedic virtues, supporting health and well-being, such as, for example, the relief of muscle and joint pain, headaches or inflammation.

MANUFACTURING

Each Mahola accessory is the fruit of careful craftsmanship carried out in India, in different regions renowned for their traditional expertise. We collaborate directly with local workshops and artisans, without industrial intermediaries, in order to preserve the authenticity of the gestures and the quality of the materials.

Our commitment is comprehensive:

selection of natural and durable materials, particularly organic cotton for our textile accessories,
artisanal manufacturing respectful of local traditions,
priority given to manual labor and limitation of mechanized processes,
fair, sustainable, and secure contracts,
equitable and respectful working conditions for artisans,
choice of noble and durable materials for our copper or traditional metal pieces.

Our textile accessories (bolsters, cushions, straps, eye pillows, etc.) are made from organic cotton, in keeping with the high standards we apply to our mats.

Our traditional pieces such as singing bowls, pooja bells, or copper carafes are crafted using traditional Indian methods, perpetuating ancestral savoir-faire.

Manufacturing is predominantly based on manual labor, with respect for people and resources.

CARE AND WASHING

Daily, after use, simply air out your cushion. If necessary, you can clean the cover with a slightly damp cloth, then let it air dry. Never put a damp cover back on the cushion to avoid mold. Thanks to the naturally antibacterial properties of the plant dyes used, frequent washing is not necessary.

OCCASIONAL WASHING

A deeper cleaning can be considered occasionally: in case of unusual odor, intensive use, or when you simply want to freshen it up.

The cover is washable separately. Hand washing is recommended: cold water, short soak of 5 to 10 minutes maximum, ultra-natural detergent or washing nut powder. Wash gently, without aggressive rubbing, then rinse thoroughly. Machine washing is still possible only with caution: very gentle cycle, cold water or 30°C maximum, without ordinary detergent.

DRYING

Air dry the cover, flat or spread out, always in the shade. Absolutely avoid tumble dryers, radiators and direct sun exposure, which can damage the plant dyes.

The inner cushion should not be washed.
