    The BLOOM shade of this mat, enhanced with unique organic shapes, makes it as aesthetic as it is functional, perfect for yogis who wish to combine design and wellbeing. At 7 mm thick, it provides comfortable cushioning while ensuring excellent stability. The Bloom colour comes from the root of alkanet, Alkanna tinctoria, used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat wounds, skin conditions and to support cell regeneration.

    Grown in Tamil Nadu, our GOTS-certified organic cotton is selected for its softness and durability. Thanks to the expertise of our artisans and traditional weaving techniques, it becomes naturally non-slip, while respecting the environment and supporting local communities.

    • NATURAL LATEX

    Taken from Hevea trees and meticulously applied with a brush to the entire underside of the carpet.
    Some models with a more pronounced grip (Yama and Surya Pro) also receive a thin layer on top. Over time, you can use our latex refills to reinforce or maintain the grip of your mat, for lasting comfort and reliability.

    MANUFACTURING

    Each Mahola rug is the result of handcrafted work in Tamil Nadu, in southern India. We don't operate any factories; we work directly with weavers who perpetuate their traditional skills in the heart of their villages. The entire process relies on manual labor.

    Our commitment is complete:

    • Selection of organic cotton sourced from local farms,
    • Production of natural dyes using Ayurvedic plants,
    • Minimising the carbon footprint of the manufacturing process (0 Electricity)
    • Sustainable and secure contractual arrangementslabour

    CARE AND WASHING

    Our rug is designed to last for years, provided it receives the attention it deserves:

    WASHING

    • Machine washable (delicate cycle at 30°C recommended).
    • Use of a mild, natural laundry detergent
    • Wash separately, ideally in a protective bag to preserve the weave.

    DRYING

    • Lay flat, away from direct sunlight.
    • Avoid: sunlight, tumble dryers, radiators — which can damage plant-based dyes

    DAILY MAINTENANCE

    The natural, plant-based dyes used to color the cotton in our rugs possess antibacterial properties recognized in Ayurveda. They naturally limit the growth of bacteria. For daily cleaning, simply shaking the rug or using a natural disinfectant spray is sufficient. In case of stains, a light cleaning with a damp cloth is recommended. Avoid harsh products (fabric softeners, stain removers, abrasive soaps, etc.).

    REVIVE THE MEMBERSHIP

    Over time and with washing, the grip may diminish. Applying a thin layer of natural latex with a brush is enough to restore the original grip. In warm weather, lightly dampening your hands will improve the grip on the cotton.

    Magnificent! I finally got my Mahola mat a month ago. I'd read about the brand but wanted to see it for myself before buying it. This mat is high-end: soft, comfortable, natural, and feels wonderful. Having several yoga mats at home, from various brands and not the cheapest ones, I couldn't stand the smell or the synthetic texture during floor exercises anymore, and I'd long dreamed of a mat made of good quality materials for everyday practice at home.     01 How to properly wash my mat?

    Regular cleaning: damp cloth + mild soap
    Deep washing: by hand or cold machine wash, delicate cycle
    Drying: flat and in the shade

    Recommended frequency: intensive practice → once a month, regular practice → 1–2 times a year, like a heavy winter coat!!

    02 Is the mat long and wide enough?

    Yes: approximately 183 x 69 cm. It seems to us to be the ideal size, as it suits all body types. It is very frustrating for a tall person to "run out" of mat, just as the placement of supports should not force a short person to do the splits.
    It is necessary to clarify the term "approximately" 183 cm in length and 69 cm in width. Due to handmade production, we allow a tolerance of 2 cm in length for our weaving artisans. There may therefore be a slight variation up or down when the mats come off the looms. However, the width is much more stable due to the dimensions of the looms.

    03 Can I practice in socks, or is it reserved for bare feet?

    Of course! This is possible even if personally we don’t love it too much, and of course if you use special yoga socks (non-slip), it’s even better!

    04 What are the bands on the KARMA for?

    They improve support stability and help with proper body positioning. Many brands use graphic markers: at MAHOLA, we have chosen embossed cotton stripes, which are more aesthetic and much more functional.

    05 What is the difference between a KARMA and a YAMA?

    The KARMA is a model with a strong aesthetic, more rooted in Indian tradition: its decorative horizontal stripes bring a unique style while helping with alignment and relieving pressure points. It is available in 3 mm, 5 mm, and 7 mm thicknesses.
    The 5 mm is the most versatile (comfort + lightness), while the 7 mm offers superior comfort.
    The YAMA (7 mm), on the other hand, stands out for its exceptional grip, thanks to its grid weaving on the ends. It is therefore more recommended for dynamic practices like Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Kundalini, Power Flow, or even Bikram, while still providing excellent comfort.
