    • LOCAL ORGANIC COTTON

    Cultivated in Tamil Nadu, our GOTS-certified organic cotton is selected for its softness and durability. Thanks to the expertise of our artisans and traditional weaving, it naturally becomes non-slip while respecting the environment and helping local communities.

    • NATURAL LATEX

    Harvested from rubber trees and meticulously applied with a brush to the entire underside of the mat.
    Some models with a stronger grip (Yama and Surya Pro) also receive a thin layer on top. Over time, you can use our latex refills to reinforce or maintain your mat's grip for lasting comfort and reliability.

    MANUFACTURING

    Each Mahola rug is the result of artisanal work carried out in Tamil Nadu, South India. We do not operate any factories: we collaborate directly with weavers who perpetuate their expertise in the heart of villages. Manufacturing relies entirely on manual labor.

    Our commitment is comprehensive:

    • Selection of organic cotton from local farms,
    • Creation of natural dyes from Ayurvedic plants,
    • Minimization of the manufacturing process's carbon footprint (0 Electricity)
    • Sustainable and secure contracting

    CARE AND WASHING

    Daily, after each practice, simply shake your mat. If necessary, you can wipe it with a slightly damp cloth, then let it air dry. Never roll up your mat while it's damp to prevent mold. Thanks to the naturally antibacterial properties of the plant dyes used, frequent washing is not necessary.

    OCCASIONAL WASHING

    A deeper cleaning can be considered occasionally: in case of an unusual odor, intensive use, or when you simply want to freshen it up.

    Hand washing is recommended: cold water, short soak for 5 to 10 minutes maximum, ultra-natural detergent or soap nut powder. Wash gently, without aggressive scrubbing, then rinse thoroughly. Machine washing is possible only with caution: large capacity machine, very gentle cycle / hand wash, cold water or 30°C maximum, without ordinary detergent.

    DRYING

    Dry your mat flat or hung horizontally, always in the open air and in the shade. Absolutely avoid tumble dryers, radiators, and direct sun exposure, which can damage the plant dyes and latex.

    REVIVING ADHESION

    Over time and with washing, the latex may slightly lose its effectiveness. After several washes, if you feel that the grip is decreasing, apply a thin layer of natural latex with a brush, then let it air dry.

    No. The natural latex non-slip base applied to the mat ensures excellent stability on the floor.

    02 Does the mat retain odors?

    No. The natural plant-based dyes used to color the cotton in our mats have antibacterial properties recognized in Ayurveda. They naturally limit bad odors as well as the growth of bacteria.

    03 Will my mat fade after washing?

    Our mats are naturally dyed using Ayurvedic plants and therefore contain no chemical fixatives or other toxic substances. So yes, you should expect slight color changes over time. This is true for everything around us in nature. It is worth noting that the main change usually happens during the first wash before stabilizing afterward. Like your favorite jeans, it will change color over time and with use, but to you, it will always remain the same...

    04 What is the difference between a KARMA and a YAMA?

    The KARMA is a model with a strong aesthetic, more rooted in Indian tradition: its decorative horizontal stripes provide a unique style while helping with alignment and relieving pressure points. It is available in 3 mm, 5 mm, and 7 mm thicknesses.
    The 5 mm is the most versatile (comfort + lightness), while the 7 mm offers superior comfort.
    The YAMA (7 mm), on the other hand, stands out for its exceptional grip, thanks to its grid weaving on the edges. It is therefore more recommended for dynamic practices like Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Kundalini, Power Flow, or even Bikram, while still offering excellent comfort.
