What is GOTS certification, and how does it work?

In a world where we are increasingly aware of the impact of our choices, it's no longer enough to say that a product is sustainable. Unfortunately, it has become legitimate to demand concrete proof... and that's where GOTS certification comes in.

 

What is GOTS certification?

GOTS, or Global Organic Textile Standard, is an international standard that guarantees that a textile product is manufactured in an environmentally responsible manner from start to finish. This means that every production stage, from harvesting organic fibres to textile manufacturing and final labelling, must comply with strict criteria.

Why is this important?

For consumers committed to sustainable behaviour, it's reassuring to know that the clothing or textiles they buy have been produced with respect for the environment and human rights. GOTS guarantees the use of organic fibres and ethical manufacturing practices. It's a guarantee of quality, transparency and respect.

How does it work?

Obtaining GOTS certification is a rigorous process. We had to prove to the certifying body that all our textiles are made from organic fibres and that the transformation processes respect ecological and social criteria. This includes waste management, fair treatment of workers, and banning certain hazardous chemical substances. For the latter, we have chosen not to use any.


Once the company has met all the requirements, it receives certification and can affix the GOTS logo to its products. This logo is an internationally recognized symbol, indicating that the product conforms to the high GOTS standards.

And after certification?

Once certified, the company can use the GOTS logo on its products to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability. The logo enables consumers to make informed choices and support more sustainable practices.
